DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to join our AMPT Automotive team. In this role you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of components across our external supply chain. This role is central to AMPT’s mission to deliver cutting‑edge engineering solutions and innovative technologies that enable world‑class commercial applications. You will work closely with our Engineering and Procurement teams, as well as external suppliers, to drive quality excellence and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, approve, and monitor suppliers through audits and performance evaluations to ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Ensure supplied components meet technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards using PPAP and APQP methodologies.
- Lead supplier‑related problem‑solving activities using 8D, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Track, analyse, and report supplier quality metrics including PPM, defect rates, and on‑time delivery, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with suppliers during development phases, validating new parts through First Article Inspection (FAI) and process capability studies.
- Proactively identify and manage potential quality risks to successful resolution.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of AMPT’s tools, methods, people, and quality culture.
- Support the development and protection of AMPT’s Intellectual Property and engineering assets.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry quality standards, inspection techniques, and problem‑solving methodologies.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties aligned with the role.
- Degree‑qualified in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in Supplier Quality Assurance within a high‑tech engineering or advanced manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to translate ideas into practical, workable solutions.
- Confident working under pressure to meet targets and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage positively and professionally at all levels.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Results‑driven with confident and effective decision‑making abilities.
