DescriptionWe are looking for a Design Engineer to join Aston Martin Performance Technologies here hin this role, you will design, develop and optimise innovative mechanical and composite solutions for advanced engineering applications. Working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, you will support the full product lifecycle — from initial concept through to production implementation.
You will play a key role in enhancing product performance, durability, and manufacturability, while ensuring compliance with technical, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop composite and mechanical components and assemblies from concept to production.
- Deliver right-first-time engineering solutions to agreed timing, cost, and specification targets.
- Collaborate across cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet manufacturing, quality, and performance requirements.
- Contribute to and support DFMEA activities throughout the design process.
- Generate innovative design concepts considering weight, cost, performance, and manufacturability.
- Effectively manage workload, planning and prioritising tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Produce and interpret technical documentation including drawings, material specifications, and test procedures.
- Support continuous improvement of AMPT’s tools, processes, culture, and technical capability.
- Contribute to the development of AMPT’s intellectual property portfolio.
- Support new business development opportunities where required.
- Strong proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD design using CATIA or Siemens NX (other systems considered).
- Solid understanding of drawing standards and GD&T.
- Knowledge of recognised design engineering standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within cross-functional engineering teams.
- Understanding of the DFMEA process and its application in design development.
- Ability to present and justify design decisions within formal reviews.
- Self-motivated, resilient, and capable of performing under pressure.
