Description

We have an exciting new opportunity to join our F1 Evolution team as a No. 1 Mechanic
. Our F1 Evolution team are a dedicated group who play a unique role in preserving the past within the wider F1 environment, specialising in maintaining, preparing, and operating our heritage cars for Demo Events (DE), Testing of Historic Cars (THC), and Testing of Previous Cars (TPC). Working alongside the F1 Evolution Chief Mechanic, the No. 1 Mechanic will play a key role in driving the team to operate in the most efficient and effective way possible, ensuring race cars are delivered in a safe, reliable, and event‑ready condition for all team activities.

You will be responsible for carrying out pre‑ and post‑event car builds and strips as required, supporting the successful delivery of F1 Evolution Team events, demonstrations, and running programmes. The role requires close collaboration across the wider F1 Evolution team, ensuring all parts, assemblies, and components are built, prepared, and available when needed to support seamless event delivery. With a strong focus on quality, reliability, and presentation, you will help maintain the exceptional standards expected across every car, event, and demonstration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Chief Mechanic to manage car builds/strips and maintain pit equipment
  • Lead F1 Evolution workshop car builds from pre‑event preparation through to final car delivery
  • Manage F1 Evolution show car builds and maintenance, reporting faults to the Race/Performance Engineer
  • Assemble components and deliver projects across F1 Evolution as required by the Chief Mechanic, ensuring all assemblies are completed on time and to the correct design intent
  • Service and maintain F1 Evolution Team pit and garage equipment
  • Manage and organise a team of mechanics, ensuring work is completed to exacting standards and within required time frames during events
  • Lead the training of Junior Mechanics through the AMR system to a race‑ready standard
  • Support all relevant departments as required for car turnaround
  • Maintain and adhere to Build Specifications, Build Manuals, and Check Sheets throughout each event
  • Ensure lifing updates and changes are communicated to the Chief Engineer and Spares/Lifing Cooordinator, producing event shortage lists as required
  • Manage garage operational procedures, ensuring adherence to correct Health and Safety standards
  • Proactively contribute to reliability, build specification, and performance meetings as directed by the Chief Mechanic
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Experience in F1 or a similar high‑level motor sport environment (essential)
  • Recent senior‑level trackside experience (essential)
  • Ability to read and understand detailed CAD drawings (essential)
  • Excellent working knowledge of race cars and race car set‑up
  • Capability of leading a team and delivering measurable results
  • Enthusiastic, versatile, and able to build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and external suppliers, supported by excellent written, verbal, and organisational skills
  • Flexibility to travel as required
  • Self‑motivated, with the ability to motivate others and thrive in a challenging environment
  • Ability to work calmly and confidently under pressure, with strong decision‑making skills and a focus on delivering results
