About the Role
West Northamptonshire Council is looking for a Senior Planning Officer to join its Planning Service team. The officer will deliver high‑quality planning services and shape the future of our towns and communities by providing expert policy guidance to the Council and supporting the delivery of the Council’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Take responsibility for shaping the community by providing expert planning policy guidance and insight to the Council.
- Support the effective delivery of planning functions, working positively and flexibly to help achieve the Council’s strategic objectives.
- Deliver excellent customer service and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including members of the public, Councillors and MPs.
- Support the smooth and timely handling of customer enquiries, feedback and complaints.
- Assist with the maintenance and analysis of planning data to meet and exceed performance targets.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Local and Neighbourhood Plans, Supplementary Planning Documents and broader planning policy.
- Provide up‑to‑date research and advice on national and regional planning frameworks to keep the Council aligned with statutory requirements and best practice.
- Play a central role in delivering the Council’s place‑shaping vision, facilitating right developments at the right places and at the right time.

Salary: £42,861 – £46,304 per annum
