Mainframe Developer

Salary: £50,000 - 70,000 per year

• Strong experience managing and configuring MES platforms such as PROMIS, Camstar, Ops Centre, or similar
• Experience with in manufacturing or semiconductor environments
• Knowledge of manufacturing workflows and systems integration
• Scripting and DCL programming experience
• Experience supporting enterprise production systems in a regulated environment
• Knowledge of OpenVMS and PROMIS is advantageous
• Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux is desirable
• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and technical projects effectively

• Ensure high system availability and performance across manufacturing operations
• Support integration with ERP, PLC, and other enterprise systems
• Lead troubleshooting, enhancements, and continuous improvement activities

We are seeking an experienced OpenVMS Developer to take ownership of a critical Manufacturing Execution System environment within our high‑tech manufacturing operation. This is a permanent or contract hybrid role based from Northampton, offering a salary of up to £70k per annum. You will act as the technical lead and subject matter expert for our MES platform, working closely with our manufacturing, engineering, quality, and IT teams to support business‑critical operations and future system upgrades.
