DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and motivated Model Maker to join our Model Shop team. This role plays a critical part in the manufacture, preparation, and delivery of high-quality wind tunnel aero components that directly support our performance objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Manufacture wind tunnel models and aero components using a variety of model shop manufacturing processes.
- Paint manufactured components to AMF1 standards, ensuring consistently high-quality finishes.
- Work closely with the Model Shop Team Leader to ensure projects and components meet strict aero deadlines.
- Prepare and pre-fit components for aero testing to the highest standard.
- Support and complete wind tunnel testing activities with precision and attention to detail.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date component lists and ensure part tracking procedures are followed at all times.
- Ensure clear and effective communication between shifts.
- Proactively develop and implement improvements to manufacturing methods, quality, efficiency, and lead times.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of wind tunnel models, systems, and associated processes.
- Show flexibility and understanding in response to changing departmental needs and busy periods.
- Work proactively, responsibly, and professionally, adhering to company procedures, reporting structures, and Health & Safety standards.
- Proven experience working in Formula 1 or a comparable high-performance motor sport or advanced engineering environment.
- Strong model shop skillset with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Experience manufacturing and finishing wind tunnel models and aero components to exacting standards.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and adapt workflows in a dynamic environment where priorities can change rapidly.
- Flexible approach to working hours to support operational demands.
- Proven ability to work calmly and confidently under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage positively and respectfully with colleagues at all levels.
- Strong team player with a flexible and adaptable mindset.
- Results-oriented with confident and effective decision-making skills.
- Enthusiastic, versatile, and capable of building strong working relationships.
- Clear understanding of, and commitment to, Health & Safety best practices.
Please note this role is working on a rotational shift pattern, including early/lates.
