We are seeking a Proprietary Parts Inspector to join our Quality Assurance team for a 6‑month fixed‑term contract. In this crucial role, you will perform dimensional and visual inspections of proprietary components to ensure full compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and the company’s high‑quality standards. You will help maintain product integrity and reliability by ensuring every part that enters, moves through, or leaves the business meets our exacting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections on incoming proprietary parts and aged stock from external vendors using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometres, callipers, thread gauges, height gauges, precision pins).
  • Verify components against engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to ensure conformity to design and tolerance requirements.
  • Identify and document non‑conformances, initiate corrective action reports, and collaborate with Engineering and Production teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, traceability, and certification documentation in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all measuring equipment is correctly calibrated, maintained, and used in accordance with procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection accuracy, efficiency, and quality assurance processes.
  • Uphold confidentiality of proprietary data, designs, and inspection methods.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to learn new skills and techniques as required.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Qualification in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering Technology (certificate or equivalent preferred).
  • Experience in engineering inspection, ideally within aerospace, automotive, motor sport, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency with a wide range of inspection tools and equipment, including micrometres, callipers, thread gauges, optical comparators, and surface plates.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and material specifications.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, AS9100) and document control practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and accuracy in documentation.
  • Capability to work independently, managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, and additive manufacturing.
  • Experience with digital inspection software and measurement data collection systems.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for logging inspection results.
  • Ability to perform hands‑on inspection work involving standing or sitting for prolonged periods and using precision instruments.
