Summary
Shift Process Engineer – Lumentum – Caswell, Northamptonshire, UK. This is a shift‑based role (24x7 operation, 12‑hour shifts) rotating across all shifts. The position is suitable for a recent graduate or an experienced technician.
Responsibilities- Be the first point of contact for all wafer fab process‑related issues.
- Provide written handover of issues at the end of shift.
- Review and resolve process‑related issues, assisting in the smooth running of the fab.
- Ensure swift release of material where possible and police the application of holds.
- Oversee and coordinate timely tool re‑qualification after maintenance activity.
- Provide scrap and near‑miss event support, ensuring swift triage of scrap and near‑miss events.
- Generate and/or enact process deviations (DEVs) when required, e.g., raise DEVs for out‑of‐spec events and provide advice and support to manufacturing teams in non‑standard work under DEV.
- Create measurement macros for new products as lots arrive at measurement tools.
- Strong analytical skills and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision out of hours while ensuring all tasks are completed.
- Competent PC user (including Microsoft Office).
- Wafer fab cleanroom experience is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma and similar methodologies is an advantage.
- Ability to work as part of a team to achieve targets while using a variety of communication skills.
- Experience with computer‑controlled semiconductor processing equipment is an advantage.
- Knowledge of manufacturing execution systems (MES) such as PROMIS is an advantage, though full training will be provided.
- Must be eligible to work in the UK.
- HNC or Degree in a science or engineering discipline or related experience at technician or senior operator level.
- Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment and with cleanroom clothing.
- Self‑motivated, dependable, with good communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, alone or as part of a team.
- Excellent attendance, timekeeping and punctuality.
- Professional attitude toward work and colleagues.
- Flexible approach to work and customer demand.
