Under direction of the Building Principal, the Licensed Teacher plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. The teacher creates an atmosphere and environment conducive to intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development to ensure success for every student. They supervise students in various school‑related settings, monitor and evaluate outcomes, communicate with students, parents, staff, and community, develop and adapt instructional plans and materials to meet all students’ needs, maintain records and follow required procedures, and monitor the proper use of equipment, materials, and facilities.
TrainingAppoquinimink School District may require you to be trained in Safety‑Care or a similar competency‑based crisis‑prevention intervention training program as a condition of continued employment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Provide a safe and encouraging learning environment to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
- Plan and develop instructional plans, lessons, experiments, and other support activities to present approved district curriculum in accordance with district goals and objectives.
- Maintain accurate records, tests, reports, etc. as required by DDOE, federal regulations, and School Board Policy to demonstrate student performance.
- Analyze and use student performance data to inform instruction.
- Establish and maintain good rapport and communication with students, school personnel, and parents.
- Establish classroom routines and procedures and implement effective classroom management.
- Implement School Board and school‑based policies and procedures to uphold school regulations.
- Work closely with guidance/special education personnel and outside resources to assist students with special needs.
- Integrate technology appropriately to enhance student learning and instructional delivery.
- Remain current and knowledgeable about evidence‑based practices related to teaching and learning through active pursuit of professional development.
- Participate in district and school‑level committees designed to foster continuing improvement and growth.
- Communicate curriculum and student‑related information effectively in oral and written form.
- Participate in all meetings (IEP, conferences, etc.).
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal/Supervisor.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Hold or be eligible for State of Delaware teaching certification in the identified content area.
- Demonstrated knowledge of subject content, curriculum, and methodology of effective teaching.
- Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs.
- Skilled in the use of multi‑media and computer technology to enhance learning.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective collaborative relationships with students, peers, administrators, and parents.
- Demonstrated skill in oral and written communication; excellent human relations skills.
