Definition of Responsibility

Responsibilities include collaborating with Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS), Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), and Workforce Development Business Partners. The Youth Workforce Engagement Coordinator gains insights into the local economy and industry trends, facilitating meaningful connections between students and employers to produce networking opportunities that may result in work‑based learning experiences. Through partnership opportunities and events, the aim is to educate local businesses about investing in the long‑term success of local youth, cultivating a talent pipeline.

This initiative bridges education and business needs, equipping students with industry trends, career pathways, and essential workforce skills for employability and regional economic growth. This position is funded by the 10-year Blueprint for Maryland’s Future fund.

Job Purpose

Under the supervision of the Blueprint Program Manager, the Youth Workforce Engagement Coordinator will deliver comprehensive workforce experiences to assist Baltimore County middle and high school students in identifying academic and career pathways.

Essential

Job Duties
  • Develop business and community partnerships by conducting outreach and recruitment of businesses based on the identified needs and interests of high school‑aged students.
  • Establish and continually expand a network of strong employer partnerships.
  • Contact employers by telephone (may include cold calling), email, and personal site visits to identify hiring needs, available career pathways, and opportunities for mentorship, information sharing, and partnership.
  • Meet and establish professional relationships with prospective employers by attending networking events, including career fairs, Chamber of Commerce events, industry gatherings, etc.
  • Identify job and industry‑specific roles, business requirements, workforce trends, job skills, and design and deliver presentations on career pathways and opportunities in the community related to job development.
  • Collaborate with school‑based staff to identify potential work‑based learning experiences in the business community.
  • Work closely with inter‑departmental and inter‑agency teams and act as the liaison between BCPS and CCBC to provide information and facilitative support as these entities connect students with specific career and workforce development information, opportunities, experiences, and training activities.
