Position:The College of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for a tenure-track, nine-month, full-time Assistant Professor of Music Theory in the Department of Music. The primary responsibility of this position is teaching music theory and musicianship. The Department seeks a student-centered educator able to bring professional experience and innovation to the undergraduate theory curriculum. Preferred candidates will be conversant with a wide range of musical practices and traditions.
The preferred start date is August 2027.
Applicants should hold a doctorate in music theory or a closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered but must have completed a doctoral degree prior to appointment. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching theory and musicianship skills, a promising scholarly agenda, and capacity to serve the administrative needs of the Department of Music, the College of Fine Arts and Communication, and Towson University.
Candidates with at least two years of university-level teaching experience are preferred.
Targeted salary range: $68,
