Patient Advocate
We are looking for a Patient Advocate to serve as the primary point of contact for the identification, management, and resolution of assigned complaints, grievances, and requests communicated by and/or on behalf of patients served by Sheppard Pratt. The Advocate engages with patients or their representatives to ensure protection of patient rights, facilitates communication between patients and staff, educates patients (or secures appropriate resources) on the topics of their concern, and works to resolve matters in a timely manner in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Occasional travel to the Baltimore Washington Hospital in Elkridge, Maryland is required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the identification, management, and resolution of assigned complaints, grievances, and requests communicated by patients and/or on their behalf.
- Engage with patients or their representatives to assure protection of patient rights and facilitate effective communication between patients and staff.
- Educate patients (or secure additional resources) on the topic of their concern to ensure issues are resolved efficiently and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Travel occasionally to the Baltimore Washington Hospital in Elkridge, Maryland.
- Bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology, counseling, nursing, or a related health services field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of hospital experience, with comprehensive knowledge of clinical documentation requirements and regulations pertaining to patient rights.
- Knowledge of TJC, CMS, and state regulatory agency review processes, and experience in preparing for audits.
- Broad knowledge of psychiatric patient treatment preferred.
- Experience in healthcare advocacy and/or a clinical role preferred.
- Four 10‑hour shifts (9 a.m. – 7 p.m.) with weekend rotation (approximately คู่ per month).
- Optional weekend and additional weekday shifts available for interested candidates.

$54,074.18 – $83,510.75, determined by experience and qualifications.
