Job Summary
Regular schedule: 35 hours per week. Full‑time, non‑merit vacancy with full County benefits in the Circuit Court of Baltimore County. This job announcement may close at any time with little or no notice; applicants are advised to apply promptly.
ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision and direction of the Guardianship Case Manager, the Guardianship Case Navigator assists attorneys and unrepresented parties in navigating guardianship proceedings and provides administrative support to management of guardianship programs.
- Review filings in guardianship cases and recommend actions to the judge(s).
- Draft letters, orders, notices and related material.
- Contact parties to schedule hearings outside of Central Assignment’s scheduling responsibilities.
- Assist prospective and appointed guardians in person and virtually, providing court forms, referrals to support services and handling in‑person referrals from the Access to Justice Resource Center.
- Act as intermediary in communications with community stakeholders.
- Co‑host Zoom for Government remote hearings for the Guardianship Bench judges.
- Provide backup assistance to Legal Technicians and the Access to Justice Administrator.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in a legal setting.
- Associate’s degree plus two years of experience in a legal setting.
- Combination of four years of relevant education and experience in a legal setting.
- Spanish‑speaking individuals.
- Bachelor’s degree in legal studies or a similar field with at least two years of experience working for a lawyer, law firm, court, or public/non‑profit organization.
- One year of experience working in guardianship or family law.
- Knowledge of applicable legal terminology and basic court procedures, especially in guardianship and family law.
- Familiarity with office practices and computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer‑service skills, and the ability to build rapport with the public.
- Strong organizational skills to manage tasks, documents and deadlines efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and interact professionally with diverse individuals.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
