Overview

Reports to Mecum Transport Operations Manager. Plan & execute assigned orders to exceed customer expectations, ensure satisfaction, and maintain profitability for McCollister’s and its members. Provides pick‑up & delivery services for car‑hauling commodities. Loads high‑value & vintage cars safely, strives to satisfy customers via individualized service, works with customers to resolve minor problems, and escalates significant service issues to dispatcher/planner. Records order status & completes paperwork.

Success measured through safety, productivity, customer satisfaction & claims rating. Drivers can reside anywhere in the country.

Responsibilities
  • Execute car shipment plans within branch operations & United Van Lines.
  • Manage workload to maximize efficiency & exceed customer expectations.
  • Operate vehicle & equipment safely.
  • Protect customer products with great care.
  • Identify significant customer service problems & dispatch for resolution.
  • Maintain accurate order status.
  • Supervise & train helpers.
  • Vehicle operation.
  • Status orders.
  • Quality assurance.
  • Complete paperwork.
  • Customer relations.
Education
  • Equivalent combination of education & experience.
Experience
  • Experience hauling & loading high‑value & vintage automobiles.
  • Commercial Class A driver’s license.
  • Clean, safe driving record.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs.
  • Competent computer & iPad skills.
  • Candidate must communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be organized.
  • Proven track record of working in a team environment & autonomously.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Very organized & work in a timely manner.
  • Problem solving & conflict resolution.
  • Excellent telephone communication skills.
  • Team oriented & personally committed to continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface effectively & positively with all members of the organization.
  • Basic computer & typing skills for basic Microsoft Office & Google G Suite applications.
