Temporary:
September 1, 2026 – December 18, 2026, or full return of the incumbent
NOTE: This assignment may end prior to the end date, or it may be extended
Qualifications- BC Certification
- Bachelor of Education with a focus on Inclusive Education or equivalent training that includes coursework in the following areas:
- students with disabilities or diverse abilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder
- assessment/testing theory and practice
- strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students
- principles of UDL and their application in the classroom
- Previous teaching experience in Inclusive Education at the elementary level
- Expertise in a wide range of teaching and behavioural management strategies including skill development in social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication and social skills
- Knowledge of methods for evaluating and selecting instructional materials suitable for students with a variety of disabilities and diverse abilities
- Knowledge and understanding of child and youth mental health issues
- Ability to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of norm-referenced assessment instruments to Level B
- Ability to develop, implement and evaluate an IEP in consultation with classroom teacher(s), parents, students, staff and district and community resource personnel
- Formal training and experience administering Woodcock Johnson III Achievement Test battery
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Sharepoint, Teams, Onenote)
- Working knowledge of assistive software (Google Read and Write, Orbit Note, Equatio)
- Working knowledge and ability to facilitate the use of the school's Sensory Lab.
- Direct, supervise and support the work of Educational Assistants/Child Care Workers
- An understanding of inclusion and how to support the school community in supporting an inclusive mindset
- Ability to support, model, co-teach and collaborate around best practice to support an inclusive classroom
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills

The annual salary for this position ranges from $64,012 to $118,237, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
