Role Overview

Teck is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to join our team at Trail Operations. Reporting to the Superintendent of Reliability Engineering and Asset Health, the successful candidate will help establish a reliability culture on our critical assets. This role is based in the welcoming community of Trail, offering a compressed workweek with alternating Fridays off, optional relocation assistance, and a flexible work policy to promote work‑life balance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a courageous safety leader, adhering to and sponsoring safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Initiate a Reliability Incident Report (RIR) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) as required; support plant personnel and front‑line leaders with five‑why RCA.
  • Identify equipment problems (“bad actors”) negatively impacting core objectives through incident reports, production incidents, or maintenance cost reviews.
  • Advise plant on maintenance strategies, applying Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) principles.
  • Use a combination of preventative maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM), and condition‑based maintenance (CBM) to develop maintenance strategies.
  • Continuously improve maintenance strategy documentation, information, and PMs based on IOM and investigations.
  • Manage the backlog of PM update requests and delegate minor revisions with appropriate direction.
  • Provide verbal and written reports to keep management and work teams informed of assignment progress; track status using the 3W list and review periodically with plant management and the Reliability Superintendent.
  • Provide quality assurance of maintenance strategies built as part of operational readiness packages for capital projects.
  • Conduct hazard risk assessments (HRAs) or process hazard assessments (PHAs) as part of the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Provide guidance to new employees, co‑op students, EITs, and plant personnel.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of work experience in mining, smelting, refining, or similar heavy industrial facilities.
  • Eligibility for registration or current registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (EGBC) is required;
    Teck will support eligible employees with EGBC registration.
  • CMRP designation is an asset but not required.
  • Knowledge of reliability principles, methodologies, and technology.
  • Familiarity with RCM and risk‑based decision making.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Advanced Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of CMM systems.
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies is an asset.

Pay Range

CAD $107,000 – $132,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
