Employment Details

Interior Health is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner to join our team on a temporary basis in Trail, British Columbia. This position is a term specific part‑time 0.75 FTE available until April 26, 2027 or return of incumbent. On‑call may be required.

Work Location

Lower Columbia Trail B.C.

Salary Range

Salary range for the position is $76.61/hour - $84.27/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications and experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnosis and Treatment:
    Assess and diagnose undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications within scope of practice.
  • Care Management:
    Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans.
  • Patient Communication:
    Establish care priorities, provide follow‑up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:
    Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans. May also admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.
  • Prescribing Medication:
    Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines.
  • Leadership and Supervision:
    Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel. Provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations.
  • Research and Innovation:
    Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices.
  • Health Promotion:
    Lead health promotion activities and screenings, focusing on at‑risk populations.
  • Education and Mentorship:
    Facilitate interdisciplinary education through case presentations, mentoring, and collaboration.
  • Policy Development:
    Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing and interdisciplinary care.
  • Palliative and Long‑Term Care:
    Serve as the most responsible provider for patients in palliative, hospice, and long‑term care settings when required.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines; ensure compliance with training and incident investigation protocols.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Master’s degree in Nursing (NP) or equivalent.
  • Certification:
    Current Nurse Practitioner certification with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Experience:

    Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare setting, with the ability to diagnose, treat, and manage patient care is considered an asset.
