This is an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Music looking to work with a very dynamic and enthusiastic Expressive Arts Faculty. Ross High School is a co‑educational, non‑denominational school situated in Tranent, East Lothian, about 12 miles from the centre of Edinburgh. The school has a roll of 1,250 pupils and is set to increase significantly over the next few years.

It has strong facilities and a partnership approach with the community.

Ross High School has been designated as the ELC provision for pupils of secondary age who have Complex Support Needs. The school’s motto “Ad Meliora – Towards Better” and its values (Mission Statement “Excellence for Everyone”) emphasise inclusion and continual improvement. The school offers a wide range of extra‑curricular activities to broaden learning and support pupils beyond the classroom.

Teaching the relevant subject through S1–S6.

Duties include:

• Teaching assigned classes, including preparation and correction
• Developing the school curriculum
• Assessing, recording and reporting on pupils’ work
• Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with administration
• Providing advice and guidance on academic matters
• Promoting and safeguarding pupils’ health, welfare and safety
• Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
• Undertaking agreed continuing professional development
• Participating in school planning, raising achievement and individual review
• Contributing to school order and wider needs

• Registered with GTCS as a teacher of the relevant subject.
• Permanent posts – GTCS Full registration (General).
• Temporary posts – GTCS Full registration (General) / Provisional registration.
• As this is a regulated role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, all preferred candidates must become a PVG Scheme member or undergo a PVG update prior to formal offer.
• Applicants who have spent more than 3 months working or living outside the UK in the last 5 years must present a copy of an overseas criminal record check.

Pay arrangements:

• If you commence after the first day of the school session, your salary will be recalculated for the remainder of the school salary year (1 August – 31 July). Leave and pay will be adjusted accordingly.
