The successful candidate for this post will be placed at a minimum of Point 3 of the advertised salary scale, currently £48,396 per annum. A higher placement is possible depending on relevant transferable experience.

Days of working are negotiable, starting and finishing times are flexible, and flexi time is applicable.

Role OverviewWe are looking for a Senior Roads professional to play a lead role in the development of the County and to join East Lothian Council's Roads Services. With an HND / SVQ4 or above in Civil or Transportation Engineering, Traffic Planning or an equivalent discipline you will have significant knowledge and experience in coordinating works, transportation planning and completing statutory registers.
You will assist in the transportation planning process, analysing data and models and developing solutions to meet Council wide transport objectives.
You will be self‑motivated, business and customer focused, and have a demonstrable record of identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes, managing change and exercising strong leadership skills. You will also have a good understanding and knowledge of transportation policy, legislation and initiatives at local, regional and national levels. With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, analyse information and produce reports, and present information in public forums.
You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Infrastructure and Transportation and will be required to travel throughout East Lothian to undertake the duties of this post.

Job RequirementsRelevant Qualifications
- Educated to HND / SVQ Level 4 in Civil Engineering or related discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.
Driving Licence
- Must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle, as duties require effective travel.
