About the RoleAs Maintenance Manager, you'll own the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of all mechanical, electrical and facility maintenance across our Tranent site. You’ll lead a small maintenance team, oversee preventive maintenance programmes, support installations and repairs, and help drive the reliability and performance of our equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends reactive troubleshooting with structured planning, giving you real influence over uptime, safety and efficiency across the yard.
Key Responsibilities- Planned Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Care
- Develop and deliver a robust PPM schedule to maximise plant availability
- Manage and improve the SharePoint plant list to build a site-wide PPM system
- Carry out electrical inspections and testing
- Install new plant and support commissioning activities
- Lead forklift, CNC, LEV and tool servicing, repairs and maintenance
- Respond quickly to breakdowns to reduce downtime
- Diagnose faults using strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic knowledge
- Prioritise and resolve defects reported through weekly inspections
- Conduct weekly fire alarm point testing and monthly emergency lighting checks
- Maintain accurate maintenance certificates, service records and reports
- Coordinate insurance and statutory inspections
- Ensure all work aligns with HSE requirements and company policies
- Participate in risk assessments and promote safe working practices
- Source, manage and negotiate with third-party suppliers
- Oversee external contractors on specialist repairs and installations
- Ensure competitive rates, quality work and safe delivery
- Lead, coach and support the maintenance team
- Collaborate effectively with Operations, Supervisors and QHSE teams
- Maintain clean, safe and efficient engineering workshops using 5S principles
You're a technically strong maintenance professional with experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. You enjoy taking ownership, improving processes, and keeping equipment running reliably.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and automated systems
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with PPM planning and maintenance systems
- Good IT skills for diagnostics, record keeping and system updates
- A proactive, safety-first mindset
- Ability to lead and develop a small team
