Position: Fabrication/ Welding Supervisor (Manager)

We're looking for an experienced Dayshift Fabrication Supervisor to lead our fabrication team and keep our workshop operating safely, efficiently, and on schedule throughout the day.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll coordinate people, production, and resources to ensure work is completed to the highest standards. Working closely with the wider operations team, you'll play a key role in maintaining productivity, quality, and communication between shifts.

The Role

As our Dayshift Fabrication Supervisor, you'll take responsibility for the smooth running of the fabrication workshop during the day shift. You'll ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with production schedules while motivating the team and maintaining high standards across all areas of the workshop.

You'll be the main point of contact during your shift, solving problems, coordinating workloads, and ensuring a seamless handover to the night shift team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise the dayshift fabrication team, promoting a safe and productive working environment.
  • Plan, coordinate and allocate work in line with production schedules, project priorities and available resources.
  • Monitor progress throughout the shift, adjusting labour and workloads to meet production deadlines.
  • Ensure all fabrication work is completed to the required quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Promote and enforce health, safety and environmental procedures across the workshop.
  • Ensure compliance with MRP systems to maintain accurate production tracking and KPI reporting.
  • Monitor workshop equipment, ensuring machinery is clean, safe and fully operational.
  • Raise maintenance issues through the Mango system and communicate effectively with the maintenance team.
  • Manage production changes resulting from engineer in g updat es, project variations or unf ore sed issues.
  • Complete and review all quality documentation accurately and ensure records are stored correctly.
  • Work closely with other workshop supervisors and departments to maintain the efficient flow of materials and information.
  • Ensure visual controls and production indicators are maintained to support workshop efficiency.
  • Escalate operational issues through the appropriate reporting channels when required.
  • Attend production meetings and contribute to planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Carry out detailed shift handovers to ensure continuity between day and night operations.
About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys leading from the front and thrives in a fast-paced fabrication environment.

You'll have:

  • Previous experience supervising a fabrication or manufacturing workshop, ideally within structural steel.
  • A strong understanding of fabrication processes and production planning.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • A thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation and quality standards.
  • Experience using MRP or production management systems.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
  • A proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement.
