Job Title:
Tax Program Specialist
Supervisory Responsibility:
Reports to Tax Coordinator
Tax Program Specialist supports the NMCAA's tax preparation services by managing intake scheduling, and customer support. The role involves interacting with clients, assisting with tax-related inquiries, and helping maintain strong volunteer relationships, while also providing general administrative support to the Tax Program Coordinator.
Duties/Responsibilities- Serve as the receptionist for the tax program, managing customer interaction and experience.
- Assist the Tax Program Coordinator with administrative tasks, data collection, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain IRS compliance by completing necessary training and exams.
- Guide customers in completing pre-tax documentation.
- Address general tax inquiries and provide solutions for issues beyond VITA service scope.
- Prepare and send customer mailings.
- Make reminder calls to clients regarding their tax appointments.
- Direct tax clients to additional services and outside resources as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Greet customers and schedule appointments efficiently.
- Collaborate with Tax Program staff to ensure smooth operations during the seasonal tax preparation program.
- Represent NMCAA in a professional, helpful, and knowledgeable manner.
- Foster and maintain strong volunteer relationships year-round.
Some college coursework completed:
Associate's degree or higher preferred.
- A commitment to the NMCAA philosophy and mission.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to engage with co-workers and clients in a positive, non-judgmental, and courteous manner.
- Ability to offer innovative solutions, collaborate as a team member, and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to perform physical tasks as required by the job.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and multitask.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
