Essential Responsibilities

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees and directs Maintenance Mechanics to ensure efficiency and reduced downtime.

Scope of Position
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise preventative maintenance tasks, daily work orders and small projects.
  • Develop scope of work, estimate work time and labor cost, determine groups necessary to complete work, prepare material requisitions and monitor material delivery for requested projects, work orders and PM duties.
  • Monitor progress of assigned work, communicate problems, document scope of changes resulting from work completed and provide periodic reports as requested.
  • Assure mechanics’ work tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner through acceptable quality work standards.
  • Ability to build and lead an agile, high‑performing team.
  • Daily supervision of up to 15 mechanics.
  • Participate in team meetings and decision making within the work unit.
  • Ensure continuous improvement, development, and continuation of plant maintenance program.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems as needed.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Total Preventative Maintenance activities.
  • A trained designee will be appointed by plant management to cover for absences or vacancies.
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering degree or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of work experience in the field of maintenance/production equipment including supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Blueprint reading of building and mechanical systems.
  • Must have working knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs); electro‑mechanical systems; PLC programming techniques; advanced industrial controls; operator interface components; detection devices.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance control systems, including scheduling of all work orders (preventative, corrective and mechanical and mechanics).
  • Ability to implement MSC systems at the floor level.
  • Must have strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Able to work with cross‑functional departments within the organization.
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Word, Excel, Access, Power Point.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment while performing job (i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs, bump cap, hair net, steel toe rubber boots, autoclave gloves, goggles).
  • May be required to work in hot (up to 102 °F) for intervals of 45 minutes.
  • May be required to work in cold and/or wet environments of a minimum of 0 °F.
  • Must be able to constantly stand, stoop, walk, bend, push or pull for duration of shift, which may last up to 12 hours.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May work in production or warehouse storage areas.
  • May be required to climb ladders/stairs.
  • Must have the visual acuity to perform possible pre‑op duties and/or read paperwork and labels.
