We are looking for someone to #Join Us as a trainer in our Initial Police Learning and Assessment Unit. Could you be who we are looking for?

About the team/Department you will be joining:

The Initial Police Learning and Assessment Unit is responsible for the delivery of initial training to new police officers, PCSOs and special constables. Core hours will be 0800 – 1600 hrs Monday to Friday.

About the role and your key responsibilities:

Supporting and assessing probationary officers through the OCP (Operational Competence Portfolio) and providing timely developmental feedback. Responsible for delivering and administering initial training and assessment across South Wales.

Designs, delivers and evaluates CPD programmes and quality assurers, liaising with stakeholders and external partners to identify needs, assure standards (formative and summative), and meet Awarding Organisation requirements.

What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:

Essential Criteria:

  • Broad range of policing experience and an understanding of the Police Constable College of Policing national curriculum.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications and Niche.
  • Must be able to encourage individual learning through clear communication of learning points, use of appropriate facilitation style and effective use of learning
  • Must be able to coach and mentor staff and be able to encourage others to learn and develop, giving them clear and direct guidance and feedback on their performance in both verbal and report format.
  • Must possess good organisational skills and be able to manage tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have well developed written and verbal communication skills and be able to produce templates to assist tutors in the assessment process and students in how to evidence competence.
  • Must be able to understand and how to apply/implement the Regulation 12 and 13 process and be able to prepare documents and reports to be utilised during the Regulation 12 and 13 processes with the needs of the recipient in
  • Encourages and supports staff, making sure they are motivated to achieve results.
Desirable
  • Welsh Language Level 2 - Can understand the essence of a conversation in Welsh and can convey basic information and respond to simple requests in Welsh. Can use Welsh to transfer telephone calls. Can introduce oneself and others by name, role, and location/organisation. Can contribute in a meeting partly in Welsh.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to RV Vetting.
