A CNC Service Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties; to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing and assembly equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the organizational goals and objectives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Diagnose and repair various equipment such as production assembly, press systems, hydraulic, electrical, CNC Equipment and pneumatic systems.
- Operate powered industrial trucks and man lifts.
- Fabricate equipment as needed and rebuild tools.
- Read and interpret machine schematics.
- Comply with the OSHA Safety Standards:
Hazard Communication;
Blood borne Pathogens;
Lockout/Tagout, Powered Industrial Trucks; P.P.E., Ergonomics and Hazardous waste. - Participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job.
- Work directly with the Maintenance Lead Technician and Maintenance Manager.
- Follow any other instructions and perform any other duties upon request of the Maintenance Manager.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- The candidate possesses at least 1 year of experience in CNC machining centers, mills, lathes, EDMs.
- Experience with Heidenhain, Fanuc, and Haas controls is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Understanding of Control I/O cards and how to troubleshoot.
- Understands the relationship between axis motors and feedback systems for each axis.
- Strong machine tool alignment experience.
- Mechanical background in installing axis Linear Guides, Ball Screws, Saddles & Slides.
- Experience in laser positioning and applying compensation for machine tool axes.
- Experience in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, axis drive, motor alarms, spindles, encoders.
- Press hydraulics experience is a plus.
Experience working with PLCs is preferred.
Robotics maintenance experience is preferred.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Able to understand and work with high voltage.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Self-directed with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair mechanical/electrical problems in a production assembly environment.
- Strong time management skills, with attention to detail.
- Able to work from a high platform, such as a scissor lift or man lift.
- Has building maintenance knowledge.
- Can lift heavy objects, like moving office furniture.
While having knowledge and skills (previously described) are preferred, a certain amount of hands-on training might be necessary for specific machinery.
