Position: Senior Tax Accountant $90k-$120k

Whitman Advisory is partnering with a growing and modern CPA firm in Monmouth County, New Jersey, to hire a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Accountant for a full-time position.

This individual should be technically strong, professional, organized, client-focused, and eager to grow within a collaborative and forward-thinking firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional seeking exposure to a diverse range of tax and accounting engagements while working within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns.
  • Assist with bookkeeping, accounting, and financial statement engagements.
  • Work directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and resolve outstanding matters.
  • Review financial data and maintain complete and accurate accounting records.
  • Assist with tax planning, projections, and compliance projects.
  • Support partners and senior team members during tax season and throughout the year.
  • Manage multiple client engagements and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Identify discrepancies, research accounting and tax matters, and communicate findings to senior team members.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality when handling client information.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience working within a CPA or public accounting firm required.
  • Experience preparing individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns.
  • Experience with Quick Books or Quick Books Online preferred.
  • CPA, EA, or progress toward obtaining a professional certification is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with partners and team members.
  • Professional and client-service-oriented approach.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Paid overtime at time and a half during tax season, with an average of approximately 15 overtime hours per week.
  • SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with a 3% company match.
  • Health insurance contribution of $400 per month.
  • 120 hours of paid time off during the first year, increasing to 160 hours annually from years two through ten.
