Assistant Teacher  – Foundation Academies

Join the Foundation Academies team as an Assistant Teacher (Level 3, ATL3) in Trenton, New Jersey. This full‑time position offers a generous salary, comprehensive benefits, and a clear path to full teacher certification.

Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 7:30 am – 4:15 pm

Salary: $55,000 annually

• Lead small‑group and whole‑group lessons aligned with NJ State Standards and the school curriculum
• Co‑teach full time alongside a lead teacher and cover classrooms during teacher absences
• Support differentiated instruction and provide targeted interventions to meet diverse learner needs
• Monitor, assess, and grade student work to inform instruction and support scholar growth
• Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, safety, and achievement
• Collaborate with colleagues, school leadership, and families to support scholar success and strengthen home‑school partnerships
• Participate in professional development, coaching, and mentorship to enhance instructional skills and progress toward full NJ teacher certification by the end of the school year
• Reflect on practice, apply feedback, and stay current on best practices in literacy, classroom management, and culturally responsive teaching

• Bachelor’s degree required
• NJ substitute certification required
• Proof of scheduled exams or enrollment in a Praxis preparation program by start date
• Proof of NJ certification by March
• Familiarity with Trenton’s community and educational landscape
• Experience teaching in a high‑performing, fast‑paced, urban school setting
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong organization and time management
