Job Overview

Rutgers University – Newark is seeking a temporary, part‑time Career Counselor to support the Law School’s Center for Career Development. The position assists two existing counselors and will remain open until additional staff is hired.

• Conduct outreach to Class of 2025 graduates and gather employment outcome data based on ABA guidelines.
• Enter data into Excel spreadsheets, submit employment reports in Symplicity, and compile data in tables and charts.
• Update guides, timelines, and web materials; review and update faculty recommendation letters.
• Process clerkship paperwork, format and proofread faculty letters, and create PDFs for NJ Supreme Court and Appellate Division applications.
• Counsel JD students to facilitate summer and post‑graduate employment.

• Bachelor’s degree required; a minimum of two years of administrative or counseling experience, preferably in a law school environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn specialized software.
• Ability to work independently within defined practices and procedures; willingness to travel and work regular evening hours.

Part‑time hours: 19.5 per week. The position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement under Rutgers Policy 60.3.22; however, this arrangement is not guaranteed beyond the pilot program period.

$35 – $44 per hour.
