Position Overview:

The Injection Systems Engineer provides deep technical expertise and enterprise-level support for injection molding machinery and related systems across RPSNAB. The role focuses on machine‑side excellence of injection operations—driving equipment performance optimization, lifecycle planning, and benchmarking of alternate suppliers—while partnering closely with the Principal Tooling Engineer to ensure alignment between mold and machine system design.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Equipment Performance & Strategy
    • Lead evaluation of RPSNAB’s installed injection asset base to identify obsolescence risks, upgrade opportunities, and productivity retrofits.
    • Benchmark alternate machinery and auxiliary equipment suppliers to identify technology options that improve performance, reliability, or lifecycle cost.
    • Partner with global and regional engineering teams to define standards for injection machinery configuration, safety, and performance metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement & Technical Support
    • Support the Injection Process Improvement Team in implementing best practices, performance troubleshooting, and data‑driven optimization at plant sites.
    • Collaborate with plant engineering and maintenance teams to resolve chronic equipment issues, define root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of mold‑machine interface performance in partnership with the Principal Tooling Engineer.
  • Lifecycle & Asset Management
    • Maintain and update the injection asset database, including lifecycle stage, obsolescence risk, and key performance metrics.
    • Recommend timing and strategy for equipment refreshes and retrofits to ensure manufacturing continuity and efficiency.
    • Support the refurbishment program from the machine systems perspective (controls, hydraulics, auxiliary systems).
  • Knowledge Sharing & Standards
    • Support the development and communication of standard operating parameters and equipment specifications across plants.
    • Participate in the transfer of best practices and lessons learned through network workshops and technical documentation.
    • Provide training support to site technical teams on new injection platforms and system modifications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in injection molding machinery operation, process optimization, or equipment engineering within the plastics or packaging industry.
  • In‑depth knowledge of injection machine systems (Husky experience preferred), controls, hydraulics, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex machine performance issues and lead technical benchmarking efforts.
  • Strong collaboration skills; ability to work effectively across functions and with OEM partners.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% to support plant assessments and supplier evaluations.
