As the Engineering Manager you will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery of complex, multi-squad initiatives working on  BetMGM projects .
Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will blend your technical depth with strong delivery and people leadership. You will be the technical custodian for key systems, partner closely with Product counterparts and ensure that your squads deliver predictable, high-quality outcomes. You will play a critical role in developing engineering talent, strengthening engineering standards and contributing to cross-team strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of complex engineering initiatives, driving predictable, high-quality outcomes aligned with business priorities.

• Provide hands-on technical leadership when required, acting as custodian for system architecture, design decisions and critical components.

• Lead design reviews, address technical debt and ensure systems meet non-functional requirements such as security, reliability, and performance.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Tech Leads, and peer Engineering Managers to plan, prioritise and negotiate trade-offs across scope, quality and timelines.

• Manage cross-team dependencies and risks, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout delivery.

• Drive operational excellence by tracking execution metrics, improving engineering practices and maintaining a sustainable delivery pace.

• Lead and grow high-performing teams through coaching, performance management, career development and recruitment.

• Influence beyond your pod by contributing to group-wide engineering standards, resolving cross-team challenges and sharing best practices.

Qualifications  Specialist Skills and Experience
Essential

• Strong engineering foundation with a graduate or post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline.

• Extensive experience of delivering large-scale enterprise software with modern engineering practices.

• Proven engineering leadership experience, leading and motivating cross-functional teams using Agile/XP methodologies.

• Deep technical expertise across Java, Angular/JavaScript, distributed systems, object-oriented and system design, and building scalable, high-availability applications.

• Comprehensive understanding of the full SDLC, including CI/CD automation, testing strategies, application security, monitoring, logging and performance optimisation.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with experience resolving complex architectural and operational challenges.

• Excellent communication skills and a strong product mindset, capable of engaging technical and non-technical stakeholders and enabling customer-focused outcomes.
