Responsibilities

The individual in this role will require a combination of deep technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills, requiring someone who can think strategically while understanding the practical implications of architectural decisions across the entire organization. A key responsibility involves designing integration strategies for disparate systems, applications, and data sources across the enterprise. This includes establishing common interfaces, architecture principles, data standards, and best practices.

The role will support senior management on complex technology initiatives and investment decisions. Additionally, create an architecture review process to evaluate proposed solutions against standards and strategic objectives. Collaborate with the security team to ensure solutions meet organizational and regulatory requirements.

A hybrid work schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 days remote is preferred, but willing to discuss other arrangements as little as one day onsite a week for the right candidate.

Requirements & Skills
  • Ability to make informed decisions under uncertainty, weigh multiple factors/constraints, consider long‑term implications of architectural choices
  • Knowledge of electronic data processing platforms and software
  • Knowledge of database/data dictionary systems and applications
  • Knowledge of application portfolio management, software design patterns, application integration, legacy system modernization, app lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data governance, master data management, data warehousing, analytics platforms, and data quality frameworks
  • Knowledge of infrastructure components, platforms, development tools, middleware, and technology standards (both on‑prem and cloud‑based)
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate, informative reports/documentation on database systems, including creation/maintenance of data dictionary documentation
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally with various levels of data center and department personnel
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain essential records and files
  • Ability to learn how to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and communicating in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position
  • Experience in government or regulatory environments
  • TOGAF Certification, Certified Enterprise Architect, or similar recognized enterprise architecture credentials that demonstrate formal training
Highly Desired
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect certifications
  • Multi‑cloud experience
  • Proven track record leading large‑scale digital transformation initiatives, cloud migrations, or enterprise modernization programs from start to end
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software development lifecycle practices
  • Comfort presenting to executive leadership, board members, or external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate complex technical strategies in business terms
