Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part Time Staff Nurse for the New Jersey State Prison, located in Trenton, NJ.
The Staff Nurse utilizes the nursing process to meet a variety of health care needs with ambulatory care as a primary focus for inmates in the New Jersey Department of Corrections.
Responsibilities- Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial and emotional needs of residents and their families, including adolescents (13–17 years) and adults (18–64 years), within the framework established by the correctional system.
- Performs assessments of residents in a variety of settings such as initial intake area, healthcare unit for sick call, emergency situations in housing, chronic care clinics and infirmary.
- Works with a variety of health care professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.
- Identifies inmate‑centered goals and nursing objectives and implements prescribed interventions and solutions for the identified problems.
- Plans nursing care based on assessments, makes appropriate and timely referrals, and initiates appropriate nursing care in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
- As team leader or charge nurse, delegates duties to other health care team members based on their skill, knowledge and experience and guides the provision of care by others.

Salary:
Minimum $37.23, Mid $46.54, Maximum $54.05

Night. Full onsite work arrangement required.

QualificationsMinimum Education and Experience
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
Certifications / Licenses
- License to practice in the State of New Jersey
- CPR Certification required
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle or alternative means of transportation between sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a correctional setting
Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and lift/carry an emergency treatment bag weighing up to 45 pounds, as well as lift and rotate patients weighing up to 50 pounds.
Special ConditionsMust be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
