Fire Protection Inspector – Pump Run
Job SummaryThe primary function of this role is to perform NFPA based inspections of water‑based fire systems and fire alarm systems. The goal is to continuously grow the revenues of inspections while maintaining profits, satisfying customer requirements, and staying compliant with NFPA guidelines. This position requires the ability to work in a fast‑paced multi‑tasked environment, focus on customer development and support, deliver quality work performance, and understand all necessary NFPA codes that support each fire system.
Travel to customer sites is required.
- Perform NFPA 25 weekly & monthly fire pump runs.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of fire pumps.
- Monitor and ensure progress and completion of all assigned tasks.
- Complete and submit all work tickets and inspection reports to administrative personnel in a timely manner.
- Responsible for self‑scheduling of daily inspections.
- Upsell company capabilities to new and existing customers.
- Perform inspections from man lifts at elevations of 30 to 40 feet from ground level, as necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2 years related work experience required.
- Vocational or industry trade school a plus.
- Basic mechanical skills, including ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues required.
- Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, scissors or articulating lifts required.
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record required.
- Ability to obtain all required certifications, including NICET, required.
- Able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds required.
- Significant experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
- Excellent customer service, positive attitude, strategic thinking, sound decision‑making, timely delivery, and excellent written & verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, effectively in a team, and comply with all operating policies and procedures.
- Demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and commitment to company values required.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow‑up on tasks promptly.
Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of employees, government agencies, customers, vendors and suppliers.
Physical RequirementsEmployee regularly required to sit, see, talk, and hear; use hands to hold tools; walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl; occasionally lift up to 35 pounds. Environmental conditions vary and may include extreme heat, cold, fumes, odors, dust, poor ventilation, humidity, and wet surfaces. Protective equipment for eyes, feet, hearing, and head is often required. Operation of computers, telephones, and hand tools is required.
Commute to customers and company locations by land and air is necessary.
