Responsibilities
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Register sales on the assigned cash register, providing courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Follow state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in pharmacy practice: use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
  • Recommend items for sale, trade‑ups, and companion items.
  • Register customer purchases on the assigned cash register, collect cash, distribute change, and process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges. Take customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
  • Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised, take inventory, and maintain records; check in and price merchandise as required or directed by store manager or shift leader.
  • Perform duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensure correct entry, fill prescriptions (retrieving, counting, pouring), verify medicine, and check for possible interactions. Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. Review and comply with the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere strictly to Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
  • Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals. Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques; file claims for overages, shortages, order errors, and damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
  • Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions as directed.
  • Assist with separation of food items and product placement per policies; use the first‑in, first‑out method for stock rotation.
  • Have working knowledge of store systems and store equipment.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print and creative machine, and suggestive sale of promotional photo products.
  • Assume web pickup responsibilities (monitor orders, pick items, deliver orders to customers as they arrive).
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager or assigned by corporate and acquire continuing education credits. Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
  • Requires willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
