Position: Senior Nurse for Neonatal Services

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Nurse for Neonatal Services to provide leadership, operational management, and clinical governance across neonatal services within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. Based at Prince Charles Hospital, with responsibility for services at Princess of Wales Hospital, the post holder will lead nursing teams to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality care for babies and their families.

The successful candidate will drive service improvement, workforce leadership, quality assurance, clinical governance, and resource management, ensuring services meet national standards and organisational objectives. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, they will promote innovation, support staff development, oversee audits and investigations, and foster a culture of continuous improvement aligned with Values Based Healthcare.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced neonatal nursing leader to influence the future development of neonatal services while ensuring excellent outcomes and experiences for patients and families.

The post holder will provide professional leadership, management and governance for Neonatal Services across Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, working autonomously to deliver specialist advice and ensure high standards of safe, effective and compassionate care.

They will lead, support and develop registered nurses and support staff, while working closely with the Senior Nursing Team and Service Manager to monitor, evaluate and continuously improve the quality of care. The role includes interpreting and implementing national and Health Board policies, ensuring compliance with professional standards, organisational policies and codes of conduct.

The post holder will oversee quality assurance processes, clinical audits and governance systems, supporting professional revalidation, performance management and continuous service improvement. They will lead investigations into clinical incidents, complaints and professional concerns, ensuring recommendations are implemented and lessons learned are embedded into practice.

A key aspect of the role is promoting a culture of continuous improvement aligned with the principles of Value Based Healthcare, ensuring improvement plans are in place and patient outcomes and experiences continue to improve.

The post holder will also participate in the senior manager/midwifery on-call rota, providing expert leadership and operational support as required.
