Overview
The Post Holder is responsible for ensuring the safe transportation, delivery and collection of frozen food items to various sites both internal and external to the UHB, and the transportation of completed frozen products to and from both units at the Central Production Unit (CPU). This role also includes delivery and collection to and from hospitals and neighbouring Health Boards/Trusts. The role requires maintaining high standards of service delivery and open, effective communications, complying with legislative requirements while responsible for CPU Vehicle use.
The post holder will work within Cwm Taf Morgannwg CPU, able to work on their own or as part of a team.
- Maintain strict control of a 12 ton vehicle and ensure that temperature and mileage logs are completed with accurate readings; document any defects via drivers report/defect booklet.
- Hold a clean and valid Cat C driving licence, CPC Card, and carry a digital licence to drive CPU Vehicle.
- Take the vehicle for regular servicing or any required vehicle repairs to the designated garage; comply with road traffic legislation and Health and Safety legislation when using vehicles on the road.
- Perform daily vehicle checks at the start and end of the shift in line with CPC regulations; adhere to the drivers guide to hours/tachographs.
- Assist in preparation, processing, chilling or freezing of raw materials in accordance with strict procedures using high-volume cooking and chilling/freezing equipment.
- Undertake various cleaning duties as detailed by the online Supervisor in line with Legislative requirements.
- Be prepared to work in two units: the production unit and the working freezer unit, including moving between units as required.
- Support operational policies, procedures, schedules of work, safe systems of work, and ensure documentation is kept up to date regarding National Certificate of Professional Competence in National Haulage Licence (CPC). Review practices to respond to changes in legislation and internal/external influences.
- Resolve a wide range of operational problems that may arise while driving CPU vehicles; ensure drivers work safely and respond appropriately to varied daily situations.
- Assist in the preparation, processing, chilling or freezing of raw materials in line with strict procedures.
- Clean and valid Cat C driving licence with CPC Card; digital licence to drive CPU Vehicle.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; willingness to work across two separate units (production and freezer).
- Knowledge of road traffic and health and safety legislation; familiar with the Highway Code.
- Experience with vehicle maintenance checks and basic reporting of defects.
- Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. While not essential, Welsh language skills are considered an advantage in shortlisting. This is not fluency, just Speaking & Listening at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above.
