The History Colorado Ameri Corps Program endeavors to address three broad areas of community need across the state: equitable K-12 educational outcomes, quality history educational programming, and the tools to preserve and share a more inclusive Colorado history. This initiative is part of History Colorado's strategic goals to invest in rural prosperity, strengthen education through history, and share the diverse stories of Colorado's past.

The Ameri Corps member will engage in delivering high-impact educational programming primarily to K-12 students, with a particular focus on providing equitable access to culturally relevant history education. This role supports History Colorado's mission by facilitating Hands‑On History programming, field trips, and other educational activities. The Ameri Corps member may also engage in coordinating and facilitating community events, adult educational programming, and community outreach efforts.

  • Living allowance up to $3,600, paid in biweekly installments up to $600 before taxes

Description of Job

About the Program

  • Ameri Corps member will serve for an average of 25 hours per week for 2 months, for a minimum of 300 hours over the course of their service term.
  • Member will serve at Trinidad History Museum.
  • Flexible hours required, including occasional evenings. Members may be expected to commit to weekend hours regularly.
  • Service term begins May 19, 2025 and ends August 8, 2025.
  • In‑person orientation on May 19th (location to be determined).
What You’ll Do
  • Facilitate Hands‑On History programming, field trips, classroom visits, and other educational activities, tailoring content to be culturally relevant and aligned with academic standards.
  • Collaborate with museum staff and community partners to enhance program reach and impact.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the continuous improvement of educational programming.
  • Support and facilitate other History Colorado community engagement and story initiatives projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications , Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
  • Strong interest in history, education, or a related field.
  • Experience in educational programming, museum education, or working with K‑12 students preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • 18 years of age or older.
