Requirements

Verifies authorization in accordance with hospital policy and procedures and state and federal laws

Responsible for maintaining security and confidentiality regulations for record access and review

All request for records are stamped with date received and logged in the computer

Notifies requester with records are available

Able to maintain a good working relationship within the all departments

Assist in retrieving charts for physician’s completion, as needed

Assist with filing of completed charts and loose filing as needed

Scans charts into archiving system for retention

Must be familiar with the following manuals:
Administration, HIM Department, Emergency Preparedness and Safety

High School Diploma (GED)

HIM experience preferred

Ability to work with physicians in a collaborative manner

Ability to perform quality control on computerized medical record system reports

Ability to file computerized medical record report correctly

Basic computer skills and ability to use scanning equipment

Ability to read and communicate effectively in English

Must pass skills test (80%).

Intermittent movement throughout the department

Continuous use of keyboard

Continuous sitting (up to 7 hours)

Ability to lift up to 30% of your body weight

Ability to interact with patients, co-workers and families in a professional manner

Intermittent bending and kneeling

Ability to file at or above shoulder and below knee level
