Assists with the daily operations of a variety of recreational activities and programs as needed and helps as needed with the upkeep of the Center and grounds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities as outlined in the City Charter:
Note:
Regular and predictable attendance in the performance of this job is an essential function.
- Plans, implements, coordinates, and evaluates community programs to include sports, community classes, etc.
- Supervision of youth and adult activities at the Community Center which may include supervision of open gym during evenings/weekends.
- Ability to coach multiple sports, interact appropriately with youth and respond to parent concerns.
- Encourages participation and engagement in activities for community members.
- Maintains records of attendance, equipment use and incident reports as needed.
- Ensures the safety and well-being of participants during activities by monitoring behavior and enforcing community center rules.
- Must be able to handle emergency situations and conflict that may arise.
- Must be able to provide regular and reliable attendance to alleviate department overtime.
- Performs other duties as required and assigned.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
- Sports rules and regulations.
- Fundamentals of coaching.
- Policies, procedures, rules, and regulations and the ability to implement them as necessary.
Skilled in:
- First Aid and CPR skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Public relations and customer service skills to effectively work with customers, employees, supervisors, and department heads.
Ability to:
- Work a flexible schedule.
- Physically perform the essential functions of the job under minimal supervision.
- Work with a diverse population, including all age groups and backgrounds.
- Treat all building occupants with courtesy and respect at all times.
- Accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.

Received:
Works under the direction of the Sports & Recreation Director in carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities.
Exercised:
None.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education/
Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three (3) – six (6) months of related experience or training; six (6) to twelve (12) months preferred.
- Additional vocational or trade school education is highly desirable.
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a valid current state-issued driver’s license and not be under suspension, revocation or denial nor have any prior alcohol and/or drug related driving offenses within the last five years. A driving record search will be conducted on all applicants prior to employment and will be subject to observation throughout their employment.
- Successful candidates must pass a background investigation and physical examination in accordance with job duties prior to employment.
- Applicants will be required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and may be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their employment as per City policy
- All certifications, once achieved, must be maintained throughout employment.
