Position Overview /DescriptionReporting to the Branch Manager, the Driver will support the local branch. The Driver is responsible for the transportation of non‑hazardous and hazardous waste materials via multiple vehicle types including but not limited to roll‑offs, tankers, box vans, and air movers. The Driver also performs tasks under the direct guidance of a supervisor, including non‑emergency and emergency response activities such as confined space entry, tank cleaning, oil spill cleanup, drum handling, decontamination, sweeping, shoveling, high‑pressure washing, and other remedial activities.
Duties/Responsibilities- Ensure health and safety is the top priority by following policies, processes, and acting safely.
- Document all transportation compliance requirements, including inspection reports, mileage logs, and trip reports.
- Predominantly drive locally with occasional out‑of‑town travel.
- Load and unload loads and operate light and heavy equipment, including skid‑steers, forklifts, pressure washers, and other company vehicles.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and adhere to all safety procedures.
- Perform labor‑intensive activities in all weather conditions and in confined spaces or at heights.
- Attend mandatory training to obtain certifications and specific job knowledge.
- Submit required paperwork promptly.
- Work on call for emergency response based on a rotating schedule, with possible out‑of‑town travel.
- Comply with random drug testing and physicals as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Operation of multiple vehicle types such as roll‑offs, tankers, box vans, and air movers.
- Safety‑oriented mindset with determination to follow procedures and policies.
- Hazmat transportation including placarding and manifesting.
- Active listening and coordination skills.
- Reading comprehension and social perceptiveness.
- Ability to travel to and from job sites.
- Demonstrated accountability and punctuality.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- At least two years of CDL A driving experience.
- CDL A license with tanker and hazmat endorsements.
- No manual or airbrake restrictions.
- 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
- Pass pre‑employment physical, drug screen, and background screening.
- Successfully complete OSHA HAZWOPER 40‑hour and other mandatory trainings.
- Work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Travel for extended periods, overnight, and on an on‑call basis.
- Read, write, and understand English; follow verbal and written instructions.
- Withstand exposure to dust, fumes, exhaust, and highly pressurized fluids.
- Lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor.
- Wear PPE and work under adverse conditions.
