We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teacher to join a specialist education setting in Trowbridge. This is a full-time, long-term SEMH Teacher role supporting children and young people who benefit from consistency, structure, and emotionally informed teaching.
This opportunity is ideal for a SEMH Teacher who recognises that behaviour is a form of communication and who can remain calm, reflective, and resilient in a therapeutic learning environment. Relationship-building is central to this setting, with staff working collaboratively to provide pupils with stability, safety, and renewed confidence in learning.
The school supports pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, often alongside autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and trauma-related experiences. Small class sizes and strong pastoral systems allow every SEMH Teacher the time to teach with purpose and impact.
We Are Looking for a SEMH Teacher Who:
Demonstrates emotional intelligence, consistency, and patience
Has experience as a SEMH Teacher, PRU Teacher, or within trauma-informed settings (or a strong interest in SEMH education)
Understands that behaviour often reflects unmet emotional needs
Can balance clear expectations with empathy and compassion
Builds meaningful, trusting relationships with pupils
Adapts teaching to meet both academic and emotional needs
Works effectively with TAs, pastoral staff, and external professionals
Manages challenging behaviour safely and professionally
Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
Is seeking a long-term SEMH Teacher role where relationships are prioritised
About the SEMH Teacher Role:
Full-time, long-term SEMH Teacher position in Trowbridge
Teaching small groups of pupils with SEMH needs
Planning and delivering flexible, engaging lessons
Supporting emotional regulation, routines, and positive behaviour
Working as part of a supportive, multi-disciplinary team
Making a meaningful difference to pupils who need stability and understanding
The role will begin on a temporary basis, with a strong opportunity for a permanent SEMH Teacher position for the right candidate.
Why Join This School?
Supportive leadership with a clear focus on SEMH provision
A close-knit, caring staff team
Ongoing training in trauma-informed practice and behaviour support
Small class sizes with realistic expectations
A SEMH Teacher role where relationships truly come before results
If you are a SEMH Teacher seeking a full-time role in Trowbridge and want to work in a school that values empathy, consistency, and emotional wellbeing, we would love to hear from you.
