SEND Learning Support Assistant

Teacher Active is proud to be supporting a SEND school in Trowbridge who is seeking a nurturing and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join their team and support pupils with complex additional needs.

The school places a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, communication, and individual development, alongside academic progress. Staff work closely together to create a calm, structured environment where pupils feel understood, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

This is a long-term role, with the potential to become permanent for the right SEND Learning Support Assistant. The school is looking for a compassionate team player with proven experience supporting children with complex SEND, including Autism / ASD, SLD, and challenging behaviours.

Excellent communication skills are essential, as the successful LSA will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure consistent and effective support. The role involves supporting pupils across all Key Stages, requiring a calm, proactive approach and the confidence to manage challenging situations positively.

The successful SEND Learning Support Assistant / SEND LSA will have:

· Experience working with children with additional needs / disabilities

· Experience working with students with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) and challenging behaviours

· Level 3 CACHE or equivalent

· Team-Teach or MAPA qualifications desirable
