Main duties of the jobAbout the role
As a crucial member of our team, you will collaborate with individuals, families, and caregivers, conduct Care Act 2014 assessments, evaluate needs, and manage both short-term and long-term cases. Dive into advancing safeguarding inquiries, handling Court of Protection matters, and maintaining close collaboration with healthcare and multidisciplinary professionals.

This role undertakes complex, person centred assessments, including mental capacity assessments and Best Interests decision making.
It involves supporting carers, managing risk, completing accurate case records, and ensuring practice aligns with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding procedures. Responsibilities include conducting Section fourty two enquiries, supervising staff, supporting ASYE workers, educating students, and working collaboratively with health, police and partner agencies. The postholder prepares court reports, represents the council professionally, contributes to team development, leads peer sessions, and maintains their own professional development.
Occasional flexible working, including limited outofhours duties, is required to meet service needs.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with people in a variety of ways and levels.
- Ability to utilise a range of Microsoft and electronic social care record software.
- A self-starter, a well-organised person who is passionate about the delivery of high-quality customer-centric services.
- Ability to work with others developmentally.
- Must be able to write clear, complex, and accurate reports.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Qualified Social Worker with evidence of post-qualifying learning and development.
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant area, e.g., Practice Educator, Best Interests Assessor, or Approved Mental Health Professional.
- Proven track record of strengths-based social work with adults, including the safeguarding of adults.
- Evidenced experience of professional and personal development following achievement of a professional qualification, likely to be a minimum of 2 years post-qualification.
- Evidence of giving informal supervision.
- Experience of giving formal supervision and appraisal.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£44,845 to £46,992 a year(Inclusive of 12.5% market supplement)
