Description
You will be the Automation Engineer (Missile Production) for the Pike County Operations (PCO) team. Our team is responsible for creating innovative manufacturing solutions that safely produce complex missile systems.
What You Will Be DoingAs the Automation Engineer (Missile Production) you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying robotic and industrial‑automation solutions that enable high‑mix, high‑value missile production.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Partner with missile designers, production operations, and stakeholders to design and integrate robotic, conveyor, vision, and control systems.
- Perform hands‑on integration and commissioning of robots, end‑of‑arm tools, and related equipment.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, procedures, and layouts to maximize quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Lead the lifecycle of automated solutions from concept through implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all designs comply with government regulations, safety standards, and engineering requirements.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start.
Basic Qualifications:
- Degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline at the Master level, Bachelor level and 2 years professional experience, or 6 years of related professional experience.
- Must be able to work all schedules/shifts (first shift, night shift, weekend schedule).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance. Lockheed Martin will assist selected candidate with obtaining at least an Interim Secret Clearance prior to starting. Additionally, candidate must be able to pass ATF background check.
Desired
Skills:
- Experience with Aerospace/Automotive paint/coating automation equipment and processes.
- Working knowledge of Allen‑Bradley (Rockwell Automation) PLC SLC 500 & Control Logix
5000, Ladder Logic, FANUC robotics and controls. - Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and/or specifications.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full‑time:
The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
