Our teams interact with students, faculty, administration, alumni, and the general public to provide outstanding customer service and to sell or rent books, general merchandise, and an array of products and services for an academic community.
Responsibilities- Support all store operations and departments in partnership with the management team.
- Provide direct oversight of one or more departments or specified operational functions.
- Be knowledgeable about department and store operations, provide outstanding customer service, and ensure that your area is maintained, properly merchandised, and operationally sound.
- Assist in the daily operation of the store in partnership with the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager and the management team.
- Act as the Manager-on-Duty and maintain a working knowledge of all departments to provide daily support, direction, and guidance to customers and team members, ensuring compliance with standards of operation.
- Utilize analytical skills and knowledge of the campus to manage day-to-day operations and make informed decisions.
- Assist with assigning work and providing directed guidance to team members to manage and complete multiple projects and ensure proper workload execution.
- Maintain a presence on the sales floor to greet customers, answer questions, and assist with purchases of textbooks, merchandise, or services as needed.
- Maintain an appealing sales floor by tagging, shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing product or space within the store.
- Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments as needed.
- Full-time positions require availability to work at least 30 hours per week year-round; schedules may vary to meet store needs.
- Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and products.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
Stores comply with applicable federal, state, and local requirements regarding social distancing and sanitizing. Depending on campus requirements, positions may require vaccination confirmation. The use of face masks may be expected or required.
Qualifications- 2+ years’ experience in a retail setting as a manager or buyer preferred, or a graduate of the Best Seller Program.
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Outstanding customer service skills to match customers to products that meet their needs.
- Basic reading, writing and accounting skills required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
