Senior Property Accountant – Multifamily Real Estate

We are looking to hire a Senior Property Accountant with strong real estate and property accounting experience through public accounting.

Location: Firm not specified (locations include Farmington Hills, MI, Warren, MI, Walled Lake, MI, Southfield, MI, Troy, MI, Detroit, MI).

Job Summary: This is a permanent role in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment in the Accounting + Finance industry. The ideal candidate has a strong background in property accounting and real estate, with proficiency in Yardi, MRI, and Real Page software. Passion for numbers, financial analysis, and keen eye for detail.

• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a portfolio of multifamily properties.
• Manage all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for assigned properties, ensuring compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Perform regular and ad‑hoc financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and potential issues; provide recommendations for action.
• Coordinate with property managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely information flow.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts; monitor performance against budget.
• Manage the accounts payable process, including vendor management and invoice processing.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors as needed.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in property accounting, preferably in the real estate industry.
• Prior experience with Big 4 accounting firms (Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG) preferred.
• Proficiency in Yardi, MRI, and Real Page software.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
