The Academic Advisor position for Student Development within the JWS Center for Student Success is responsible for:

• Providing academic advisement and support to first year and at-risk undergraduate students who must complete developmental/remedial courses of study as part of their Admission to the University
• Providing academic advisement and support to students who are pursuing an Associate’s degree or who are majoring in the Bachelor’s of Interdisciplinary degree program
• Providing support to at-risk students who are conditionally admitted to the University or who have “undeclared major” designation
• Developing and implementing effective strategies to increase student retention
• Assisting with support services
• Researching and compiling information on student trends and needs, and presenting information on matters related to student success
• Providing support for Executive Director in areas related to the activities of the JWS Center and its mission of student success, retention, progression and degree completion

• 1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• 2. Minimum of one year of experience in advising, counseling, or related field, or working with persons with diverse backgrounds and/or students considered at-risk
• 3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

• 1. Master’s degree in counseling, student personnel, education or related field
• 2. Experience with university databases
