Textile Materials Engineer
Join NPAworldwide, a global Tier 1 automotive supplier of polyurethane foam materials.
We are seeking a highly motivated Textile / Materials Engineer to develop and mature a material database, benchmark trim materials, and collaborate with product engineering, engineering, and purchasing to validate new supplier materials and cost‑reduction initiatives.
Responsibilities- Responsible for benchmarking and developing a material database, including interactions during lamination where applicable.
- Identifies, selects, and recommends materials based on customer specifications.
- Directly works with OEM customers on construction drawing approvals.
- Supports the establishment of specifications for selected materials.
- Observes or participates in product testing, development, and manufacturing processes as appropriate.
- Participates in root‑cause analysis when materials fail.
- Creates best practices and standardizes material selection and lamination.
- Assists in manufacturing reviews to ensure compliance with best practices and standards.
- Provides technical support during quoting of lamination programs.
- Engages with plant and supplier quality assurance teams to collect, analyze, and organize data for internal and external reviews.
- Facilitates and leads meetings with cross‑functional teams as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline (highly preferred).
- At least five years of relevant experience as a materials engineer, textile engineer, or process engineer.
- Experience with vinyl, synthetic, and non‑synthetic materials.
- Exceptional analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the proven ability to fully understand customer requirements and complex problems.
- Ability to gain trust and build working relationships with OEM customers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a development team.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software used in product testing and documentation.
- Travel required (up to 20%).
- Experience in how textiles are fabricated or testing of face‑good materials.
