Position: Pharmacy Technician - Outpatient - Full Time Rotating - Troy/Detroit

Full Time 40 hours - Rotating

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, assist in the distribution and processing of prescriptions and the sale of over-the-counter medications; enter prescription data into computer. Perform billings and file maintenance. Receive payments for prescriptions and other purchases. Assist in the stocking and storage of inventory. Interact and communicate with the public. Report to pharmacists.
  • Prepare and prepackage medication for subsequent administration to patients under the supervision of pharmacists.
  • Enter prescription information and process prescriptions in the computer.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Obtain all personal and insurance information from new customers and enter it into the computer.
  • Take prescription refill orders over the phone from customers.
  • Collect monies owed for prescription retail sales or OTC sales.
  • Organize numerically the filing of prescriptions to be kept for five years.
  • Straighten and inventory all over-the-counter medications and sundry items.
  • Promote a professional and friendly atmosphere to all pharmacy customers.
  • Maintain appropriate records of medication dispensed.
  • Help in the reprocessing of rejected prescriptions.
  • Assist customers in problem areas that may arise.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED
  • Requires valid State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license.
