As a Behavior Technician at Total Spectrum, you’ll help children with autism learn, grow, and build communication, socialization, and self‑help skills through a play‑based therapy known as applied behavior analysis (ABA)! Responsibilities- Assist children aged 2‑22 with autism and special needs in their homes, schools, or at one of our centers.
- Conduct ABA therapy sessions, teaching communication, socialization, and self‑help skills.
- Record data and monitor client progress.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to implement treatment plans.
- Follow safe patient handling procedures; be able to push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds.
- Maintain a consistent weekly schedule, including mornings, afternoons, or evenings, and be available for occasional weekend and evening shifts up to 7 pm EST.
- Minimum age 18 and eligibility to work in the United States.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Desired characteristics:
- Genuine desire to help children with autism and their families.
- Compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, goodwill, and reliability.
- Willingness to learn about autism, learning differences, and ABA.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) fluency.
- Studied, majored, or minored in psychology, education, special education, childcare, behavioral health, health science, or a related field.
- Experience working with children (babysitter, nanny, tutor, teacher, coach, camp counselor, etc.).
- Training or interest in a career in behavior analysis, behavioral health, teaching, occupational therapy, speech‑language pathology, counseling, mental health, or parenting.
- Commitment to creating lasting, positive change for children and families.
- Push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds.
- Sit on the floor, stoop, stand, walk, and run as needed by client assignments.
- If full‑time, up to 15 days of paid time off (PTO) after 90 days of employment.
- If part‑time, eligibility for sick leave.
- Potential promotion in as little as three months and professional development opportunities.
- Starting pay at $18.00/hr, increasing with experience.
